I don't know or care what goofy TV news shows and youtube vloggers are saying about the current situation, but I live in Portland, I know people affected by the current situation, I have to run errands in the city almost daily, and it is understood matter-of-fact around here that almost all violence and destruction has been escalated by the authorities first. That's practically a no-brainer. People are angry at authorities in general for decades of unchecked police brutality. Authorities don't like that. Cops and feds get deployed to "disperse" protests for no reason other than the inconvenience they pose to businesses and political campaigns regardless of how peaceful those protesters are.
